Young musicians to represent Baton Rouge Magnet High on high-profile stages

Two music students from Baton Rouge Magnet High School are preparing to play on some big stages.

Sophomore jazz pianist Seth Finch will join 24 other young musicians from across the United States for the NYO Jazz Program this summer at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Through the program, he will learn from all-star faculty, play under the direction of Sean Jones, with major guest artists and tour leading international festivals and venues in Europe.

Seth belongs to the award-winning Baton Rouge Magnet High School Jazz Ensemble.

Senior violinist Erina Buchholz will perform April 28 with The New World Symphony in Miami, Florida, for the Side-By-Side Concert. Buchholz joins fellows rehearsing and performing high-caliber music in a concert conducted by the San Francisco Symphony’s Michael Tilson Thomas, a National Medal of the Arts recipient.

The youngest member of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Buchholz is the East Baton Rouge Parish High School Student of the Year, a National Merit Scholarship Finalist and a Presidential Scholar candidate.
